Breeding Stock by Rupperts Corriedales

At Ruppert's Corriedales and Cormo Sheep, we strive for Corriedale sheep that are consistently correct, straight topped, long bodied and sound on their feet and legs. With our introduction of Australian Corriedale breeding, our Corriedales now have unmatched fleece quality. Our Cormo sheep are selected primarily for their high-quality fleeces.

Our AI Program

Our wool quality took a giant leap forward with the introduction of semen from 2 sires of the Liberton Corriedale flock in Victoria, Australia. Jim and Brenda Venters (www.liberton.com.au) were kind enough to share the wonderful Liberton Corriedales genetics, with their beautiful, soft and lustrous fleeces, with our Corriedale flock. We recently introduced semen from 2 additional Liberton rams, including P10, a national winner in Australia. See his picture and pedigree at the Venters' website. Thanks again to Martin Dally (www.toprams.com) for his AI assistance. We invite you to stop by the farm to see the results.

About Our Cormo Flock

We started our Cormo flock in 2001 with 6 ewes and a ram from Sue Reuser in California. Our Cormo flock has remained small as we concentrate on maintaining only exceptionally white and soft fine wool. Individuals are culled if there is any tendency toward belly wool low on the side or any major visual variation from side to britch. We were fortunate to borrow an excellent Cormo ram from John and Kate Bostek for our 2011 lamb crop. His average micron count is 18. We cleaned up with the exciting ram pictured here, who is a three-way cross of Corriedale, Merino and Cormo from our own breeding. Contact us if you are looking for truly rare handspinning fine wool.

If you agree with us that this is what great corriedale breed type looks like, why not add one of these females to your flock?
